Snow tubing in Saalbach - a new shade of tobogganing
Racing through the Skicircus on a tyre
Truly something you'll never get tyred of: You probably already know the great toboggan runs around the Eggerhof. Now, there’s a new, speedy way to slide through the Skicircus. Snow tubing in Saalbach Hinterglemm is the latest trend. Race into the valley on a tyre - for every age and even in the dark! Tubing connoisseurs or adrenalin junkies all get their money's worth during this slightly different tobogganing adventure!
What snow tubing is all about
Compared to all other winter sports offered in the Skicircus, snow tubing is certainly one of the more recently developed ones. This rather unusual sport came to Austria in the mid-2000s and spread quickly from ski region to ski region. The idea is as simple as it is fun: Race down a toboggan run on an inflated tyre. The tyre rotates back and forth - nothing for the faint of heart! Families and groups even connect their bobs to snakes and daringly race into the valley.
Snow tubing at the Unterschwarzachbahn
The Unterschwarzachbahn in Hinterglemm is the hotspot for snow tubing in Saalbach. The 120-m-long route with a moderate altitude difference of 17 m runs right along the floodlight slope. Sounds rather meh, yet turns out to be lots of fun, as you pick up lots of speed on this short run - every day from 4-9.30 pm under floodlights! The use of the run is already included in the ski pass price, snow tubes can be borrowed free of charge at the tubing run.
